 6.  Touching the Earth

  •  Stand upright with feet and legs together, your back & knees straight, arms hanging at your side.
  • Breathe in deeply as you raise your arms in a circular motion above your head. Continue to raise arms until they are vertically extended above your head. Bend backward slightly to emphasize the stretch.
  • As you exhale, bring your arms back down in front of you and bend your waist until your hands touch the floor.
  • Repeat the exercise up to 9 times.

 

Caution - if you experience lower back problems, do not perform this exercise until a qualified health care professional has approved these movements for you.

 

   Touching the Earth opens the Qi channels responsible for nourshing the internal organs of the body, especially benefiting the kidneys and adrenal glands. It also improves the flexibility and strength of the lower back, waist and hip joints.
